If the 15-inch is about legacy, the 15.6-inch is about the future. This is a 16:9 widescreen format, typically offering Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. In modern industrial design, this extra horizontal space is critical for "dashboard" style HMI (Human-Machine Interface) where you need a main control window alongside a sidebar for alerts or system status.
Typical Technical Profile:
Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (FHD) is standard; 1366 x 768 is a cost-effective alternative for simpler HMIs.
Interface: Most 15.6-inch panels utilize eDP (Embedded DisplayPort). If your controller still uses LVDS, you’ll need a bridge chip, which is an extra point of failure and heat.
Contrast Ratio: Usually 800:1 to 1000:1, providing deep blacks and sharp text.
Temperature Range: We specify these for -20°C to +70°C for true industrial use.
When selecting a 15.6-inch panel, pay attention to the viewing angle. We almost exclusively recommend IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology for this size. Since 15.6-inch screens are often mounted in landscape, a TN panel would show "color inversion" if an operator looks at the screen from below or the side. IPS ensures a consistent 178°/178° view.
