Why Industrial Equipment Choose 15 Inch LCD Displays

The 15-inch LCD is the "old reliable" of the industrial world. Despite the push toward widescreen formats, the 4:3 aspect ratio (1024 x 768 XGA) remains the dominant footprint for industrial equipment for one primary reason: mechanical legacy.

Most industrial cabinets, rack-mount systems, and wall-mounted enclosures were designed around the 4:3 square format. When an OEM is looking to update their internal electronics without redesigning the expensive sheet metal of the outer chassis, the 15-inch panel is the only logical choice.

Beyond the physical fit, 15-inch industrial panels offer a pixel pitch that is often more comfortable for operators who aren't sitting at a desk. At roughly 0.297mm, text and icons are larger and more legible from a distance compared to high-density widescreen panels. Furthermore, the supply chain for 15-inch glass is incredibly stable. While consumer panels go EOL (End of Life) every 18 months, our industrial-grade 15-inch modules typically carry a 5-to-7-year supply guarantee, protecting OEMs from the nightmare of constant hardware re-certification.
